This gorgeous 4 bedroom ski chalet is situated in a sought after village less than 1km from St Martin de Belleville, a popular and attractive ski village that links directly into the 600kms of pistes of the Three Valleys. For the adventurous intermediate skier it is possible to ski off-piste from the Olympic chair lift right back to the chalet using the grazing meadows behind the house, which when covered in snow provide wonderful powder fields to cut tracks in – ski conditions permitting.

A wonderful feature of this chalet are the views, which can be enjoyed from every window as you walk around the house. From the garden, terrace and balcony the main view is toward le Cochet, an unusually shaped mountain, which is lit up at night, creating an absolutely beautiful backdrop. Another huge bonus is the sunny location - the chalet soaks up the sun throughout the year and the terrace in particular enjoys sun for most of the day.

The chalet is attractively and thoughtfully decorated throughout. It currently has 4 bedrooms with the potential for a 5th, plus one family bathroom and one shower room with the potential for two more bathrooms. In fact there is enough spare habitable space for the 5th en-suite bedroom as well as a sauna and Jacuzzi on the ground floor. It has a good sized fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar and casual table. A more formal dining area and a cosy TV lounge, the kitchen and dining area lead directly onto the terrace which makes it very easy to have your meals outside.

There is one garage; one covered parking bay plus private parking directly outside the chalet. There are two separate storage rooms, and plenty of room for ski equipment, at the back of the garages plus a “cave” for your wine. The chalet has been beautifully finished and has a very welcoming feel to it. Features like underfloor heating and wood burning stove make this chalet a really great property. It could well be used as a ski chalet business with an owners apartment on the lower floor and 4 e-suites as the guest rooms.

The Belleville Valley, part of the Three Valleys ski area which is the largest in Europe, has a very relaxed feel unlike its busier neighbours of Meribel and Courchevel. 6kms further up the mountain is Les Menuires, with Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe, at the top of the Belleville valley extending the ski season from mid November to mid May.

This is an ideal location for keen skiers and boarders, catch the ski bus to the lifts and ski back to the chalet at the end of the day – snow conditions permitting. In winter the village is full of enthusiastic skiers enjoying the stunning mountains and the state of the art ski system.

From Geneva airport it takes 2hrs into the village and about the same from Grenoble and Lyon airports. From Chambery airport it’s about 1hr15 and in addition the TGV stops 25 mins away in Moutiers.

SAINT MARTIN DE BELLEVILLE

Resort Description

Based at 1400m and directly linked into the vast Three Valleys network by an 8 person gondola, St Martin de Belleville offers unlimited, world-class skiing. The village is picture perfect, unspoiled and authentic making St Martin de Belleville the perfect ski resort if you are looking for a taste of authentic France combined with state of the art skiing.

Clusters of traditional chalets and original Savoyard farmhouses are dominated by the close mountains with chamois and wild boars roaming free in the surrounding forests. St Martin was voted a “Top Ten Picture Postcard resort” for its pretty, traditional architecture and stunning Alpine scenery, it’s interesting to note that the commune have had the foresight to bury all the electric and phone cabling which means that not only does it have a clean uncluttered look, but you are unlikely to lose power when the snow hits!

As an added bonus Val Thorens, officially the highest resort in Europe is situated at the top of the valley offering great skiing from mid-November to mid-May. St Martin also has some of the best and clearest runs in the Three Valleys; with skiing for all levels back down to the village and red run Jerusalem a firm favourite with many, and the confidence inspiring off-piste powder fields have to be experienced to be believed.

In the height of summer during July and August the valley is host to walkers, nature lovers and adventure seekers who arrive to enjoy the traditional and less traditional mountain activities along with the colourful mountain meadows and beauty of the contrasting vibrant green against snow capped mountains. It is also a near neighbour to the Vanoise Park, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty.

St Martin de Belleville has a lower key nightlife than its glitzy neighbours. Having said that, the valley boasts two Michelin starred restaurants, one being situated three minutes from the village, the other in Val Thorens. St Martin itself has several friendly bars and restaurants which retain a mountain village atmosphere with prices to match. It seems ideal for ski and mountain lovers looking for an authentic atmosphere a little apart from the crowds, and out of season it still has life and enough year round residents to stop it feeling like a ghost town.
