A great location for snow and mountain lovers, this ski chalet is for sale at the edge of a high mountain village that you can ski back to from the slopes of the Three Valleys. The village is above St Martin de Belleville and a ski bus departs in the morning for the ski resort or you can drive to the free parking just by the 8 man gondola. At the end of the day you can either ski back to St Martin or come off the Olympic chairlift at Roc de Fer and ski off-piste back to the village.
When you arrive at the chalet it deceives you, it looks petite, cosy and cute – and the last two it undoubtedly is but it is certainly not small - go through and you find yourself in a spacious, well conceived ski chalet with the most amazing views. You enter into a hall on the first floor off which has a well decorated bathroom, wc and cupboard space. Immediately in front of you are the stairs up to the mezzanine which is currently used as music and reading room and a spare bedroom when guests come to stay. Look down onto the superb open chimney and comfy seating area. From there you have a dining area which overlooks the balcony, also large enough to dine on and what a back drop – you can see for miles. Mountain ranges, both distant and local with a huge range of colours and shape depending on the time of year, season, day – a truly spectacular vista and you only need turn you head to enjoy it!
The kitchen is charming, beautifully decorated, fully equipped and well thought out whilst also being practical - as is the entire chalet,
Moving downstairs to the garden floor; you have a spacious corridor with storage and tables, giving the whole place a rather gracious feel. Off here are two really nice bedrooms, one twin and one double. Both have dressing areas, both are very roomy and both are very well decorated with stunning views again.
The garden has wood storage, surrounds the house and there is plenty of room for flowers and some vegetables. There is a shed at the front of the house and because there is outside space on all sides you can find the sun whatever time of day it is.
On the ground floor you have a fully tiled and insulated but under-utilised area of about 70m2; it would be easy to develop this as there is plumbing here for the laundry and a window at the front.
At the moment it is used as a laundry room plus there are two further small rooms used for storage and a wine cave.
The chalet has underfloor heating and an open chimney and is extremely toasty.
Whilst the ski chalet is in a very popular village that you can ski back to, just 5 mins from St Martin de Belleville, it is on the edge of the village so whilst it is in a small community it has a very private and tranquil atmosphere and feels very relaxed. There is nothing in front of it with uninterrupted views of the valley.

Based at 1400m and directly linked into the vast Three Valleys network by an 8 person gondola, St Martin de Belleville offers unlimited, world-class skiing. The village is picture perfect, unspoiled and authentic making St Martin de Belleville the perfect ski resort if you are looking for a taste of authentic France combined with state of the art skiing. Clusters of traditional chalets and original Savoyard farmhouses are dominated by the close mountains with chamois and wild boars roaming free in the surrounding forests. St Martin was voted a “Top Ten Picture Postcard resort” for its pretty, traditional architecture and stunning Alpine scenery, it’s interesting to note that the commune have had the foresight to bury all the electric and phone cabling which means that not only does it have a clean uncluttered look, but you are unlikely to lose power when the snow hits! As an added bonus Val Thorens, officially the highest resort in Europe is situated at the top of the valley offering great skiing from mid-November to mid-May. St Martin also has some of the best and clearest runs in the Three Valleys; with skiing for all levels back down to the village and red run Jerusalem a firm favourite with many, and the confidence inspiring off-piste powder fields have to be experienced to be believed. In the height of summer during July and August the valley is host to walkers, nature lovers and adventure seekers who arrive to enjoy the traditional and less traditional mountain activities along with the colourful mountain meadows and beauty of the contrasting vibrant green against snow capped mountains. It is also a near neighbour to the Vanoise Park, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. St Martin de Belleville has a lower key nightlife than its glitzy neighbours. Having said that, the valley boasts two Michelin starred restaurants, one being situated three minutes from the village, the other in Val Thorens. St Martin itself has several friendly bars and restaurants which retain a mountain village atmosphere with prices to match. It seems ideal for ski and mountain lovers looking for an authentic atmosphere a little apart from the crowds, and out of season it still has life and enough year round residents to stop it feeling like a ghost town.
