Property Description

Recently built 4 bedroom ski chalet just above the resort centre of St Foy Tarentaise ski resort, peering down on to the ski front and the Grand Plan ski lift.  Only 50 metres to the piste and a couple of minutes walk in to the village.

The chalet faces south and looks across the ski resort and across the valley giving captivating views from all the levels of accommodation, which all have terraces or balconies to enjoy the sunshine throughout the day.

The ski resort of Ste Foy is a friendly and intimate resort and has a traditional village feel.  The resort has been developed in recent years and all the ski chalets and ski apartments use local materials to blend in naturally with the mountains and pastures using wood and local stones.  The ski area has been extended and there are now a good network of pistes and countless off-piste opportunities.  The tree-lined runs and forests around the resort lend themselves to a perfect Alpine picture postcard!

With chic restaurants, bars and shops in and a short drive away from the resort and a handful of high quality mountain restaurants, Ste Foy is an exceptional choice for someone looking for a sophisticated, friendly resort without paying ski high prices of the larger, renowned resorts in the area.

The chalet is accessed by an external staircase and entrance is directly into a hallway which gives way to the large open plan living area.  This floor is laid to tiles throughout and has a living area to one side with a large wood-burning fireplace.  There is a WC with washbasin and storage cupboards off the living room.  From the dining area you can look through the two sets of double balcony doors across the snowy rooftops and across the valley towards the Paradiski.  The kitchen area is separated from the dining, by a large kitchen island.  Behind this you will find a fully equipped, spacious kitchen, with gas oven and hob.

A stylish spiral staircase is accessed from the living area, going down to three bedrooms, two of which have en-suite shower rooms.  The third bedroom has a private shower room opposite it.  There is a WC.  All of these rooms have doors out on to the balcony which stretches across the front of the chalet.

Return upstairs and to the top floor where you will find the 4th bedroom.  This has its own en-suite bathroom with the lovely bathtub set under the eaves of the building.  This bedroom could be considered the master and currently has 2 single beds and a bunk so is nice and spacious.  Again, it has a door on to its own private balcony.

For your storage there is a boot-room which has a separate entrance just near the front door to the property.  It also houses the two large hot water cylinders and VMC.  There is also a mezzanine in this room and it is used as staff accommodation as the chalet is being run as a tour operator’s winter ski chalet.

As a further incentive, the owner is selling the chalet with its own private garage, which is a few metres from the staircase leading to the chalet.  It has been kitted out with shelving but could easily fit a car still or be used for guests skis, boards and boots.

Ste Foy Tarentaise ski resort is situated just above Bourg Saint Maurice and on the road to Val d'Isere and Tignes thus giving you the option to visit other local ski resorts during your stay within a 20 minute drive.  The shops, banks, supermarkets and other commerces are in Bourg Saint Maurice which is around 15 minutes drive.  You can access the resort by various international airports in the area, Grenoble, Geneva and Lyon are around a 2 hour transfer whilst Chambery is just over an hour away.  The TGV and Eurostar have regular services in to Bourg Saint Maurice train station where you can get a transfer easily up the mountain.

Sainte Foy Tarentaise

Resort Description

Forget large busy resorts, 2009/2010 is all about “Boutique Skiing” and nowhere does it better that Sainte Foy de Tarentaise. If you LOVE off piste skiing, have a young family and enjoy a chalet atmosphere well then you will REALLY LOVE Sainte Foy. It’s one of the prettiest modern ski villages in France. Nestled among the trees at 1550 metres in a sunny bowl above the Savoie Isere valley, it’s just a short car ride away from a host of better known resorts such as Val D’Isere, Tignes and la Rosiere. It has stunning views of Mont Blanc (4,807m). Small family ski resorts are back in fashion and Sainte Foy has everything you will need. The right skiing mix for experts and beginners, good facilities for children, fine food and a high standard of accommodation. For small children Sainte Foy is ideal, it’s friendly, has a kids club, a ski school and the nursery slopes are conveniently close to the middle of the village. Despite what you may have encountered in other small resorts lifts are in good condition and well maintained. Sainte Foy opened its first 3 lifts in 1990 and has been adding to them ever since. The most recent was a 6 man chairlift in 2006/7. The village has plans to build more lifts in the future to further extend the 30km of pisted ski area. Currently there are 4 chairlifts and 2 tows. The Morion and Crystal Dark blacks that run down from the Col de l'Aiguille summit at 2620 metres are suitably challenging, whilst a full top to bottom descent is possible by taking a succession of reds such as L'Aiguille down to Creux de Formeian finishing up with La Savonette. The snow cannons and its north west facing position keep Sainte Foy snow-covered from December to April. Off piste addicts have raved about Sainte Foy for years, you’ll find powder here days after it has been skied out in nearby Espace Killy. It has long been the reserve of off piste guides and you may want to make use of their expert knowledge, especially when facing serious steeps! Boarders have a terrain park all to themselves by Cret Serru (2040m). Beyond this St Foy is a natural playground for snowboarders with countless drops and hits. The top half of the mountain is a treeless powder bowl, whilst the lower trails are cut through the forest creating endless opportunities to enjoy. Anyway it’s not all about skiing and boarding .......or is it? Your first port of call, once the lifts have closed, should be the Pitchouli Bar. Renowned for its early evening live bands and relaxed atmosphere it’s THE place to wind down before dinner. There are a variety of different restaurants in and around the village, menus range from tapas to local Savoyard fayre. Don’t expect huge nightlife in Sainte Foy, that’s not what it’s about, however if a pleasant meal, a few glasses of wine, in front of an open fire then falling into bed appeals to you, you really will LOVE it here. The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice which lies at the foot of Sainte Foy de Tarentaise, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. Local airports are Lyon (135kms), Geneva (130kms). Chambery (75kms) and Grenoble (115kms).
