With 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a separate I bedroom apartment it offers spacious accommodation and would make a SUPERB HOLIDAY HOME WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE RUN AS A CATERED CHALET The chalet is currently rented out to a well-known independent tour operator. The SEPARATE APARTMENT offers personal or STAFF ACCOMMODATION should the chalet be run on a catered basis.

La Plagne is one of France’s great ski resorts with some 225km of slopes and some great off piste. Although the resort is known as an intermediate skier’s paradise, with a wealth of cruising blue and red pistes, the off piste and some serious black runs off the back of the Bellecote Glacier means that there is challenging skiing to be had as well. Plagne 1800 was originally a mining village and it still retains a sense of identity and a true village feel. NEW FOR 2009/10 is a further chairlift out of the village up to Plagne Centre where it will link with the NEW La Bergerie chairlift that allows access to all parts of La Plagne—a great improvement and just a short walk or ski from Chalet Beryl. Plagne 1800 has a choice of ski shops, the excellent La Mine bar –often with live music—and a couple of good restaurants. A free shuttle bus runs every half hour up to Plagne Centre allowing a further choice of shops, bars and restaurants.

The accommodation comprises; Ground Floor; a large triple garage, ski deposit with boot warmers and storage areas. There is huge potential to develop this area perhaps adding further accommodation, a sauna or fitness room. First Floor: the first floor is split level with a large lounge and dining area on the lower level and a kitchen with additional seating on the upper level. The lounge has a feature fireplace for those cosy chalet evenings and access to a large balcony. The kitchen area offers a further stove and access to a terrace. A separate WC can also be found on this level. Upper Floor; again the upper floor is split level offering a total of 5 bedrooms, including a master bedroom with en suite bathroom, 2 double bedrooms, a twin room and a triple room with mezzanine. In addition there is a separate 1-bedroom apartment with bathroom, small kitchen and living area, which would provide ideal owner or staff accommodation if the chalet were to be operated as a catered chalet. Built in a typical Savoyarde style this chalet offers superb views of the mountains of the Tarentaise. It is possible to ski to within 30 metres of the chalet and the facilities of the village are only a 5-minute walk away.

TRAVEL INFO. By Air; the nearest airports are Chambery—transfer time approx 1hour 30 minutes---with Geneva, Grenoble and Lyon some 2hours 30 minutes. By Rail; the nearest station is at Aime down in the valley—some 30 minutes by car or taxi to the chalet with a bus service operating from Aime to resort. In winter a direct EUROSTAR service operates to Aime. Self-Drive; it is an approx. 10 hour drive from the channel ports.

LA PLAGNE

Resort Description

La Plagne is one of France’s largest and most popular ski resorts. It is also extremely popular with British skiers and boarders who make up around 35% of the visitors to this great resort. With some 225 km. of piste, continual upgrading of the lift facilities and slopes for all standards of skier there is something for everybody. If this is not enough for you the amazing Vanoise Express double decker gondola link to Les Arcs opens up another 200km. of slopes. The joint La Plagne, Les Arcs, PARADISKI ski domain is one of the world’s truly great fully linked ski areas.

La Plagne is not just one resort but a collection of ski villages, 6 at high altitude and 4 further down the mountain, each with their own shops, restaurants, bars and ski schools.
At high altitude the 6 villages are; Aime La Plagne (2100m),Belle Plagne(2050m),Plagne Villages/Soleil(2050m),Plagne Bellecote(1930m),Plagne Centre(1970m) and Plagne 1800(1800m).
Of these the pitched roof chalet style of Belle Plagne, Plagne Villages/Soleil and Plagne 1800 are the most attractive to British eyes. However the other three are not without their fans and offer ski in ski out convenience and some great value accommodation. The original la Plagne, Plagne Centre, is undergoing a considerable facelift and next year work begins on the indoor shopping and restaurant areas.

Lower down the mountain there are more traditional villages. Les Coches at 1450 m has been purpose built in a pleasing chalet style and recent lift improvements have transformed access to the higher slopes. Champagny en Vanoise (1250m) and, in particular, Montchavin(1250m) and Montalbert(1350m) have retained their rustic farming charm and have a strong following amongst British clients.

Between them the villages of La Plagne offer something for everyone. There are wide, cruising blue slopes for the less confident or those “hot chocolate” skiers amongst you with tough blacks and a wealth of off piste for the stronger /more adventurous skier. Boarders have not been forgotten with a variety of Terrain parks on offer.

Accommodation varies from simple, great value, ski in ski out studios and apartments to luxury new build apartments and chalets.
