Property Description

First things first, this is my own barn next door to our family home; have a look at Reference 10802DC73 to see the two of them for sale together.

The barn footprint is a little under 5 metres by 5 metres and is on 3 levels so developing the current footprint would allow one to develop approx 70 sq. m of space and there may be the possibility to extend the footprint.  For example, one idea might be to extend the lower, below ground level whilst keeping the above ground on the same footprint. There is land to be sold with the barn; the exact division of the land and decisions over rights of way have yet to be decided so things are up for discussion.  As yet there is no planning permission for the barn but initial enquiries have indicated that this should not be a major problem.  All things are to be discussed and formally decided before the signing of any compromis de vente. There are some lovely old timbers that would make very attractive features in a restored/newly-developed property. For somebody out there this is a great opportunity to develop a character barn.

A GREAT BARN IN A VILLAGE LOCATION AND LESS THAN 15 MINUTES TO LA PLAGNE SKI LIFTS.

Macot-La Plagne (800m) is a lovely village at the foot of the road up to La Plagne. The 6-man La Roche chairlift at 1600m and the lovely villages of Montchavin and Montalbert that link into high altitude La Plagne are all approx. 15 minutes drive away.

Macot is a thriving village with a local junior school, well-stocked shop, pizza restaurant, a couple of (very French) bars and a boulangerie. There are several British families that have settled in the village but essentially it remains very French.

As a ski resort La Plagne has something for everybody with some 225 km. of slopes; there is some great cruising through the trees above Montalbert and Montchavin, wide open pistes, steep and deep off piste off the Bellecote glacier and terrain parks for the boarders amongst you. Of course the incredible Vanoise Express cable car link to Peisey Vallandry/Les Arcs adds another 200 km. of slopes. In total the joint Paradiski area offers an amazing 425km of slopes and is one of the world’s great ski areas.

Please note; when snow conditions are good it is possible to ski, off piste, all the way down to Macot.

La Plagne

Resort Description

La Plagne is one of France’s largest and most popular ski resorts. It is also extremely popular with British skiers and boarders who make up around 35% of the visitors to this great resort. With some 225 km. of piste, continual upgrading of the lift facilities and slopes for all standards of skier there is something for everybody. If this is not enough for you the amazing Vanoise Express double decker gondola link to Les Arcs opens up another 200km. of slopes. The joint La Plagne, Les Arcs, PARADISKI ski domain is one of the world’s truly great fully linked ski areas. La Plagne is not just one resort but a collection of ski villages, 6 at high altitude and 4 further down the mountain, each with their own shops, restaurants, bars and ski schools. At high altitude the 6 villages are; Aime La Plagne (2100m),Belle Plagne(2050m),Plagne Villages/Soleil(2050m),Plagne Bellecote(1930m),Plagne Centre(1970m) and Plagne 1800(1800m). Of these the pitched roof chalet style of Belle Plagne, Plagne Villages/Soleil and Plagne 1800 are the most attractive to British eyes. However the other three are not without their fans and offer ski in ski out convenience and some great value accommodation. The original la Plagne, Plagne Centre, is undergoing a considerable facelift and next year work begins on the indoor shopping and restaurant areas. Lower down the mountain there are more traditional villages. Les Coches at 1450 m has been purpose built in a pleasing chalet style and recent lift improvements have transformed access to the higher slopes. Champagny en Vanoise (1250m) and, in particular, Montchavin(1250m) and Montalbert(1350m) have retained their rustic farming charm and have a strong following amongst British clients. Between them the villages of La Plagne offer something for everyone. There are wide, cruising blue slopes for the less confident or those “hot chocolate” skiers amongst you with tough blacks and a wealth of off piste for the stronger /more adventurous skier. Boarders have not been forgotten with a variety of Terrain parks on offer. Accommodation varies from simple, great value, ski in ski out studios and apartments to luxury new build apartments and chalets.
