Property Description

Currently being run as a business, this chalet was built in the 1850s. The accommodation over three floors is in the ideal location from which to run a business, or equally its homely feel would suit a spacious private dwelling. The owners have ensured that the building is beautifully maintained, and the outside space is a rare treat. There’s a large deck upstairs, with power points, lighting and water tap and it faces south - south west.

Wooden stairs go down to the Storvatt hot tub and to the garden which is mainly laid to lawn with fruit trees and a vegetable plot, garden shed and mill stream. There is parking for several vehicles.

The Area

The Montriond/Morzine area is famous in the winter for being part of the Portes du Soleil Ski Domain with its 650kms of pistes. The Ardent telecabine is 5.5 kms away and gives direct access into the heart of the area.

It’s worth noting that there is a strong summer season and a vast range of summer activities are on offer from white water rafting on the river Dranse towards Thonon, to Paragliding above the local mountains. Thonon is 30kms down the road, where it’s possible to enjoy the Riviera feeling at the side of Lake Geneva, and all the water sports that go with it.

Geneva International airport is just over an hour away and with daily flights arriving from most regions of the UK all year, it’s an easy destination not just for the traditional week’s holiday, but also for short breaks and long week-ends at any time of the year.

Portes du Soleil Ski Area

600 km of skiing in 2 countries making the Portes du Soleil the biggest international ski area in the world.

Here skiing is a journey, with different panoramas and routes to look forward to every day, and each of our 12 village resorts offering a charm of their own.

The resorts are amongst the most well known, including Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Abondance, Chatel and St Jean DAulps to name but a few.

They also offer excellent opportunities for downhill mountain bikers outside the winter months.

As a popular holiday destination in both summer and winter, these resorts offer investment potential. So whether you are looking for a quiet and peaceful family resort (Chatel or St Jean D'Aulps for example) or something a little more lively (Morzine) the Portes du Soleil has it all.

Within easy distance of the International Airport at Geneva plus close to Lake Geneva, this ski area is the perfect destination.

Morzine Ski Resort

Situated mid-way between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, the ever popular resort of Morzine is absolutely stunning, well known for its Alpine scenery, nestled between forests and summits. Life is leisurely, and the village although vibrant and bustling has lost nothing of its original charm and Savoyard way of life. Ideally situated right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Morzine is the gateway to a marvellous winter playground of 650 km of ski-slopes where you can ski from French into Switzerland and back again all in one day.  When it comes to lunchtime you are spoilt for choice with all the mountain restaurants scattered everywhere.

In summer, these slopes become sign-posted footpaths for trekking and moutain biking. Originally life in Morzine was one of agriculture and slate-mines but with the opening of the ‘Grand Hotel’ (first tourist hotel built in the 1920’s) and its owner François Baud opened up a new opportunities for the village and it’s in habitants. Then in 1934 the Pleney cable car was opened and the thick covering of snow started some previously unknown sports: tobogganing, ski-jöring (towed behind a horse), the beginnings of downhill skiing and even ski-jumping!

If ski or snow boarding instruction is the order of the day there are avariety of French and English speaking Instructors in the ski schools.

There is a vast array of shops, bars and restaurants, offering plenty to non-skiers as well and for after ski fun.  This makes Morzine a good all year round resot for those who live here and those with Holiday homes.
