If you are considering a move to the area and are looking for a good sized, extremely well priced, centrally located ski chalet then you may have just found what you are looking for!  This chalet is situated in a village that sits quite centrally to many of the regions famous ski resorts.  Coupled with the storage space and living accommodation this property offers great potential to lock up and leave all your winter sports equipment in situ ready for your holidays.

The Paradiski, Espace San Bernardo, Espace Killy, Ste Foy Tarentaise…take your pick.  Villaroger is only a 10 minute drive where you can start the day on the most eastern edge of the Paradiski and explore more than 450kms of piste.  Alternatively, La Rosiere and Ste Foy are around a 15 minutes drive so you can try the international domain of the Espace San Bernardo and enjoy a genuine pizza on the Italian side of the area.  Ste Foy is well known as an off-piste skiers dream offering many untracked itineraries and paths through the trees.  Finally, Val d’Isere and Tignes are just up the road around 30 minutes away.  Two fantastic “super” resorts offering every skier, no matter what their level, something suitable.  With great ski schools, restaurants on the piste and in the resorts, so many activities for non skiers, small children and for those non-ski heavy weather days you really are spoilt for choice.

Located in a village just a 10 minutes drive from Bourg Saint Maurice the house is in a superb position being close to the main route up to these ski resorts, but set back on a residential quarter away from any noise disturbance – it really is a great selling point.  The area is well serviced no matter what time of the year you may visit, Bourg Saint Maurice offers all the commerce and facilities you will need being the main town of the valley.

The house is the last on a quiet residential road with open views across the valley pastures and up towards the mountains.  A lovely sized garden surrounds the house which is well laid out and established.  With 3 good sized double bedrooms and two bathrooms this house would make a great family home in the mountains or as a super second home to enjoy the mountains year round!

The owners have created a home with a real heart here, it is modern, comfortable and is ready to occupy straight away.  The house is surrounded by its gardens which are well established and nicely laid out.  Enter the property through the garden gate or through the drive which leads to the enormous double garage which is the ground floor of the house.

Starting from the ground floor you will find a guest or children’s twin room.  It is light, airy and is a good size.  There is a built-in wardrobe storage cupboard, so large that you could probably convert this to a small shower en-suite if you wished.  This floor offers plenty of storage cupboards in the hallway, a boot room and a workshop for anyone feeling handy!  There is also a door through to the aforementioned giant garage.  This doubles up as extremely useful storage for sports equipment and gardening bits and pieces.

Upstairs to the first floor which houses the living accommodation.  The hallway is open and the light is already flooding in from the windows around the property.  The open plan kitchen is fully fitted and has an island with further cupboards which doubles up as a breakfast or lunch bar.  The dining room is off the kitchen through an archway so the perfect layout for entertaining dinner parties.

The other side of this floor is the large living room which has a really pretty open fireplace and you will find the Provencal and Mediterranean theme continues with the light, minimal décor.  There is a front door between the kitchen and living area which opens directly onto a terrace and into the gardens.  Finally there is a family bathroom which has a bath, handbasin and WC as well as some built-in cupboards.

Upstairs to the top floor and there is a pretty feature mezzanine library area above the staircase – very useful for all your books, DVDS and CDs!  There are two bedrooms off the hallway, both good sized doubles, but the master is larger and has a balcony over looking the garden.  Both rooms make excellent use of the space underneath the eaves of the roof with cupboards or hanging space for clothing.  The master also has the largest walk in wardrobe you could dream of!

These two bedrooms share a bathroom off the hallway.  Very modern, clean and contemporary in design it has a walk in shower, handbasin and WC.

You can access Viclaire from the international airports of Geneva, Lyon or Grenoble all around a 2 hour drive away and of course Bourg Saint Maurice has the train station which has links to Chambery, Lyon, Paris and beyond.

SAINTE FOY TARENTAISE

Resort Description

Forget large busy resorts, 2009/2010 is all about “Boutique Skiing” and nowhere does it better that Sainte Foy de Tarentaise.
If you LOVE off piste skiing, have a young family and enjoy a chalet atmosphere well then you will REALLY LOVE Sainte Foy. It’s one of the prettiest modern ski villages in France. Nestled among the trees at 1550 metres in a sunny bowl above the Savoie Isere valley, it’s just a short car ride away from a host of better known resorts such as Val D’Isere, Tignes and la Rosiere. It has stunning views of Mont Blanc (4,807m).
Small family ski resorts are back in fashion and Sainte Foy has everything you will need. The right skiing mix for experts and beginners, good facilities for children, fine food and a high standard of accommodation. For small children Sainte Foy is ideal, it’s friendly, has a kids club, a ski school and the nursery slopes are conveniently close to the middle of the village.
Despite what you may have encountered in other small resorts lifts are in good condition and well maintained. Sainte Foy opened its first 3 lifts in 1990 and has been adding to them ever since. The most recent was a 6 man chairlift in 2006/7. The village has plans to build more lifts in the future to further extend the 30km of pisted ski area. Currently there are 4 chairlifts and 2 tows. The Morion and Crystal Dark blacks that run down from the Col de l'Aiguille summit at 2620 metres are suitably challenging, whilst a full top to bottom descent is possible by taking a succession of reds such as L'Aiguille down to Creux de Formeian finishing up with La Savonette. The snow cannons and its north west facing position keep Sainte Foy snow-covered from December to April.
Off piste addicts have raved about Sainte Foy for years, you’ll find powder here days after it has been skied out in nearby Espace Killy. It has long been the reserve of off piste guides and you may want to make use of their expert knowledge, especially when facing serious steeps!
Boarders have a terrain park all to themselves by Cret Serru (2040m). Beyond this St Foy is a natural playground for snowboarders with countless drops and hits. The top half of the mountain is a treeless powder bowl, whilst the lower trails are cut through the forest creating endless opportunities to enjoy.
Anyway it’s not all about skiing and boarding .......or is it? Your first port of call, once the lifts have closed, should be the Pitchouli Bar. Renowned for its early evening live bands and relaxed atmosphere it’s THE place to wind down before dinner.
There are a variety of different restaurants in and around the village, menus range from tapas to local Savoyard fayre. Don’t expect huge nightlife in Sainte Foy, that’s not what it’s about, however if a pleasant meal, a few glasses of wine, in front of an open fire then falling into bed appeals to you, you really will LOVE it here.
The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice which lies at the foot of Sainte Foy de Tarentaise, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. Local airports are Lyon (135kms), Geneva (130kms). Chambery (75kms) and Grenoble (115kms).
