This apartment is located on the first floor of this well maintained and practical residence. The entry door opens into a hallway with useful storage for coats and hats. The hallway gives access to the bathroom, which is tiled white from floor to ceiling for easy cleaning and fitted with a bath whilst the toilet is separate. The first bedroom is fitted with bunk beds and under-bed storage. At the end of the hallway is the bright South facing living area of 18.4m². This room is tastefully decorated with a wooden feature ceiling that coordinates harmoniously with the kitchen fittings and furniture and together with the mountain themed décor creates a warm atmosphere. The space has been cleverly set out to provide distinct areas for relaxing, with plenty of room for comfy armchairs and the sofa that converts into a double bed; a dining area and an open plan kitchen area fully fitted with modern appliances. The double sliding doors open onto the 4.4m² balcony from which one can survey the Morel chairlift merely metres away whilst soaking in the sun and enjoying views to the South. The double bedroom is accessed from the living area and offers a plenty of room around the double bed to accommodate storage.

The apartment is sold not only with a ski locker but also a separate storage room (which means that you have somewhere to store those cumbersome articles or your own belongings if you rent the apartment during your absences). AND REAL BONUS, a covered parking space. There is a base level of underfloor heating included in the general management charges of the building, together with the cold water : charges of approximately 1200€ per year. The apartment is also equipped with electric radiators that are each separately controlled within the apartment and on the electricity counter of the apartment as is also the hot water heater.

The adjacent 3 bedroom apartment is also for sale offering the potential to unite the two and create a large superbly located piste-side home (subject to planning and coproperty authorisation).

Morel is one of the most attractive sectors of the Méribel valley. It offers a range of shops and services but is also only 10 minutes’ walk or a short bus ride to the centre of resort (with its shops, cinema pool, spa, ice-rink, climbing wall and bowling centre). Its situation alongside the Hulotte piste means that Morel is an ideal base for those wanting to ski over to 3 Valley neighbours Courchevel or Val Thorens. The Méribel valley is a great choice of holiday destination in the summer months too. There are many activities on offer, from mountain biking to via ferrata, fly fishing, horse riding to glorious mountain walks – suitable for all ages. The road biking opportunities are almost endless too. The valley is great for families with a variety of children’s activities including a pool, ice-rink and bowling. Méribel is just 17km to Moutiers train station (TGV/Eurostar during the winter), and the airports of Geneva (140km) and Lyon (180km), Grenoble (175km) are also within striking distance (approx. 2 hours) as well as the seasonal winter airport of Chambery (100km) just over one hour.

Three Valleys Ski Area

A beautiful place all year with highly defined seasons and quiet and tranquil out of the ski season when the crowds have gone home, and then suddenly once again each winter the mountains of the Three Valleys come alive with people enjoying this vast ski area..... the largest linked skiing in the world.


The Three Valleys ski domain provides more than 600km of runs and probably the same again off-piste. In fact it should now be called the Four Valleys with the link into Orelle (Maurienne Valley) which can be accessed by ski from Val Thorens. This has also opened up some extraordinary off-piste runs. The Three Valleys provides direct links between the ski resorts of St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires, Val Thorens, Méribel, Mottaret, La Tania, Brides les Bains and the four Courchevel resorts, la Praz, 1550, 1650 and the world famous 1850 – and now Orelle, in the fourth valley - all under one ski pass offering on-piste skiing from 1300m all the way up to 3200m. As these figures show the Three Valleys ski area offers huge altitude differences favouring long run skiing.


It has an ultra efficient, state of the art ski lift system, quality piste preparation and a dense artificial snow making system (1920 snow cannons) complementing the excellent natural snow cover. However, if you are not a fan of downhill skiing or like some variety during your stay then you can also roam the domain at your leisure on foot, hiking along the marked trails, or using the pedestrian ski lift passes. Many trails have been created especially to enjoy the increasingly popular snowshoeing sport and to discover the valleys from a new perspective: flora, wildlife, monuments, and spectacular scenery.There are also many cross-country skiing tracks that are prepared and maintained each day. These allow you to take in the breathtaking scenery and provide the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the mountains away from the pistes.


An interesting and wonderful area all year round, there is much more here than the snow sports.

Meribel Ski Resort

Méribel is one of most popular resorts in Europe for English-speaking skiers along with Courchevel and Val d’Isere.

 

Meribel is the central valley of the largest ski domain in the world, Les 3 Vallées.

 

With 600 km of groomed pistes, 85% of which are above 1800 metres, 25 accessible summits, 174 modern lifts and over 2090 snow cannons covering 43% of the ski area the statistics are impressive as is the skiing. However Méribel is much more than the 5 month winter ski season and an extended stay in summer or during the colours of autumn are needed to appreciate this.

 

The initial development of the ski resort in the late 1930’s was a British and French partnership and this acceptance of English speakers continues to this day. Méribel is now a much more diverse international community with a large percentage of residents or visitors speaking English as their main or second language.

 

The main village of Méribel is built on the eastern side of the valley between 1450 and 1700 metres and because of this it is surrounded by forests or grass & timbered slopes. The strict architectural codes of alpine sloping rooflines, timber and stone cladding compliments this setting and makes it one of, if not the most, attractive of all the large high altitude French ski resorts.

 

The other major “resort villages” are Méribel Mottaret (1750 m), Méribel Village (1400 m), Les Allues (1100m) and the spa town of Brides-Les-Bains (600 m) at the very bottom of the valley. There are many smaller villages or hamlets so the range of property covers all tastes from barn conversions & village houses through to ski apartments and super luxury ski in ski out chalets with private swimming pools. As well as the normal range of hotels, bars, restaurants & shops Méribel boasts a range of facilities and activities.

 

The Méribel Olympic Centre is home to a full size ice rink, indoor climbing wall, 25 metres indoor heated pool and water slide, conference centre, gymnasium and wellness centre of spa, steamrooms, etc.

 

There is a spectacular 18 hole Golf Course at 1700 metres and a huge range of other outdoor activities such as tennis, hiking, mountain biking, road cycling, paragliding, fishing, etc which are enjoyed in the warmer months. Méribel property is generally more expensive than other French resorts but not yet at the dizzy heights of Courchevel 1850 with perhaps the exception of a few of the most prestigious pockets.

 

As Méribel continues to become ever more popular with the big spenders of the world the strong capital growth experienced over many many years is likely to continue.
