It is not easy to find spacious 3 bedroom apartments in la Plagne so this one for sale in Plagne Montchavin, la Plagne, Paradiski , is a real find. Plagne Montchavin (1250m) is a former farming village turned ski resort at the heart of the amazing la Plagne, Les Arcs, Paradiski ski area; one of the world’s great ski areas. It is a very pretty village with a charm not always to be found in some of the higher resort villages.
The spacious accommodation is over two floors and comprises. Entrance hallway with storage. Bathroom with bath, overhead shower, washbasin and heated towel rail. Separate WC. Large lounge/diner with open plan kitchen and access to the balcony with views of Mont Blanc, Bourg St Maurice and Peisey-Vallandry.
Upstairs to: Bedroom 1; a double room with big window, velux and built in storage. Bedroom 2; a spacious cabine bedroom ( bunkbeds) that has room for two single beds or a double bed and has built in storage. Bathroom with WC, bath, overhead shower, washbasin and heated towel rail. Bedroom 3; twin room with built in storage and an en suite shower room with washbasin and heated towel rail.
The apartment has a cave/cellar for storing personal belongings, a ski locker and an underground parking space. Situated just above the village the residence offers a reception, swimming pool, sauna, ski shop and a restaurant/bar. It is a 5 minute or so walk down into the village with a free navette (shuttle bus) service running down to the village and on to Les Coches.
Plagne Montchavin (1250m) having retained its agricultural roots and smells(!) is now a fully fledged ski village. Access to the slopes is by the Montchavin chairlift or the Les Coches bubble. High altitude la Plagne is accessed by a series of fast chairlifts and there are some lovely runs through the trees. The amazing Vanoise Express cable car is just above the village and whisks you over to Les Arcs in only 4 minutes. The village has a busy summer season in the months of July and August.
Travel Info. Self-drive: It is an approx 10 hour drive from the main channel ports to the resort. By rail: The nearest staion is Landry just 10 minutes or so away by car or taxi. In winter a direct Eurostar service runs to Aime la Plagne and Bourg St Maurice. By air: The main airports serving the resort are Chambery, Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble.
Paradiski Ski Area
Paradiski is the name of the joint La Plagne, Les Arcs, ski area linked together by the Vanoise Express cable car. Opened in December 2003,the Vanoise Express is currently the world’s largest single span cable car; in fact there are two of them both capable of ferrying 200 people across the Ponthurin valley that divides the two areas. The journey and the views make for a spectacular 4-minute ride.
In total Paradiski offers a HUGE 425 km of piste. Individually, La Plagne (225 km) and Les Arcs (200km) are significant ski areas in their own right and are both made up of different villages. In La Plagne the high altitude villages are Aime 2000,Plagne Centre, Belle Plagne, Plagne Bellecote, Plagne Soleil, Plagne Villages and Plagne 1800. These are all situated between 1800m and 2100m and offer snowsure high altitude ski in ski out convenience.
Lower down the delightful villages of Montchavin, Les Coches, Montalbert and Champagny en Vanoise all offer the charm and cosy comfort of village life, with their own tree lined local slopes and easy access to the high altitude slopes of La Plagne.
In Les Arcs the high altitude villages are Arcs 1600, Arcs 1800, Arcs 2000 and, the latest development, Arcs 1950. Again these all offer a ski in ski out experience. Great cruising runs through the trees lead to the lower villages of Plan Peisey, Vallandry and Villaroger for a more traditional mountain experience.
Both La Plagne and Les Arcs offer something for everyone. Early intermediate blue and red run skiers can soon explore the area and travel around the mountain enjoying some of the good value mountain restaurants.
However with two glaciers at over 3,000m, a wealth of “between the piste” and off piste and long runs through the trees, there really is something for all levels of skier---and let’s not forget you boarders out there—both resorts offer a choice of snowparks with jumps, rails and the ,all important, music. La Plagne, Les Arcs, Paradiski—one of the world’s great ski areas.
Montchavin - Les Coches Ski Resort
Montchavin (1250m) and Les Coches (1450m) are two charming, family orientated villages at the meeting point of the La Plagne, Les Arcs ski areas which together make up the amazing Paradiski ski domain.
In many ways they provide it all; peaceful village life, a bit of nightlife, excellent restaurants, traditional buildings and super efficient skiing facilities. Montchavin has a unique rustic charm; this is still a farming community with chickens and geese and farming smells!! There are some delightful old buildings whilst more modern additions have been built in a sympathetic style. The cobbled high street provides a variety of ski shops, a supermarket, a couple of bars, a lovely patisserie, an excellent 2 star hotel and even a cinema. There are half a dozen good value restaurants of which Le Ferme de Cesar remains a personal favourite.
Les Coches, situated a little further up the mountain, has been purpose built in chalet style out of wood and stone with pitched slate roofs. There is a lovely pedestrianised commercial heart to the village with a variety of shops, a supermarket, the excellent The Last One bar and a choice of good value restaurants.
Both villages easily connect to the La Plagne ski area and Les Arcs via the Vanoise Express gondola link. From Montchavin the Montchavin chairlift and Les Coches “bubble” are the two main lifts out of the village…it is a two minute ski from the top of the Montchavin chair to the Vanoise Express link to Les Arcs. From Les Coches the 6 man Plan Bois chairlift and the Lac Noir gondola are the main lifts.
There are a total of 30 km of skiing in the Montchavin-Les Coches local area: the picturesque tree lined runs are superb after a new fall of snow and provide excellent skiing in bad weather when many higher pistes are closed. Two lovely villages that we feel sure will appeal to those seeking charm as well as top class skiing.
Most of the accommodation for sale in the villages is apartments ranging from compact studios to 3 bedroom apartments; however, larger individual chalets are also available.
