This mountain barn has been renovated in a traditional style, with local wood, slate and stone walls. The top floor is a huge open plan kitchen, dining room and living room with stunning views, floor to ceiling windows and a sunny balcony - and with six bedrooms, another living room, garden and garages this would make an ideal holiday home or bed and breakfast.
Montagny sits perched up high on the side of the valley opposite the Courchevel valley. It benefits from all year round sunshine being south facing – it is not uncommon here to be sitting on the balcony in March in a shirt while skiers on the other side of the valley are wrapped up warm. Montagny has an all year round community – mostly French but peppered with a few other nationalities too. With excellent walking and cycling opportunities right from the village, and being just 10 minutes from Brides les Bains (with its gondola to Meribel) and 20 minutes from the lifts in Courchevel le Praz, this mountain house is in an excellent location.
You enter at street level onto the top floor of the house (which is built into the hill) – the huge open plan kitchen, dining area and living room with its traditional beams, floor to ceiling windows and balcony (large enough for al fresco dining). There is also a mezzanine on this level – currently used as a space for children to play – but this could be taken out to increase the volumes of the room even more.
Downstairs leads you to two large bedrooms each with its own south facing balcony and with access to its own bathroom (one of which also doubles up as a laundry room). Downstairs again and you’ll find two more bedrooms (one of which with its own balcony) and two more bathrooms. At this point it is possible to shut off the connecting door and keep the remaining space separate (perfect for a b&b if the owners were to live in). This part of the barn has a double ensuite room, huge living area with high ceilings, beams and a wood burner and downstairs a kitchen built in a traditional style with its own “table de berger”. There are plenty of nods in this house to traditional mountain life.
The downstairs kitchen leads out onto a large balcony and overlooks the garden. At garden level this is plenty of storage space – a large archway for storing wood, and a cave (with a WC). All topped off with two large garages and one parking space.
This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a large traditional mountain house in a stunning area which has life all year round but is at the same time on the doorstep of all that the Three Valleys and Vanoise national park has to offer.

Bozel is a beautiful town which gets a lot of sunshine all year round. It is predominantly French but there are a few English locals too who tend to be well integrated into the local community, with kids in the school. Bozel thrives in winter and in summer. Just 10 minutes by car from Moutiers (where trains arrive from London, Paris, Lyon...), 10 minutes drive from the ski lifts in Courchevel le Praz, and just 8 minute drive from Champagny/la Plagne, you have the pick of several ski resorts in winter time! Most notably Bozel is also on the free ski bus route to Courchevel.
In summer Bozel attracts many people who come to the area to walk, bike and climb or just relax by the lake and enjoy the French way of life. Bozel has everything you need - shops selling local produce, a butcher, a beautiful church with its unusual spire, beautiful views of the Grand Bec, walks from the doorstep, bars and restuarants. Its a great place to consider buying as you can get a lot more for your money here than you can further up the mountain, although people are now wising up and it is expected prices will start to rise soon.
