If you are looking to move to the French Alps to run your own catered chalet, this classic Savoyard farmhouse in Morillon, which originally dates from 1918, should be at the top of your wish list. Why? – it’s already being run as a very successful business. Alternatively, it can also be used as a large private family home or a weekend retreat. The farmhouse provides extensive accommodation, currently arranged as a 5 bedroom chambre d'hôtes with 4 further bedrooms/sitting rooms used as owners' accommodation on the top floor. It also has the potential to attract clients at other times of the year, especially in summer. The current owners are including everything from their business in the sale. They’ll even help with the handover if you like. The farmhouse is nestled in the pine trees on the way up to Morillon 1100, and the private grounds are extensive.
The Laberieu slope allowing ski-in, ski-out access when conditions allow is close-by. This gives access to the 265+kms of the Grand Massif ski area, France’s 4th biggest ski domain and also one of the most snow-sure, due to geography. The village of Morillon has all the day-to day essentials at hand, with a bakery, newsagents, butchers as well as a school. Nearby Samoens (10 minutes drive) and Cluses have all the conveniences modern towns provide, and Geneva airport is just an hour away.
The farm occupies 2,600 square meters of land and is currently arranged as follows:
Ground floor: Entrance hall, Dining room, Kitchen, Living room, Utility room
First floor: 5 bedrooms, all with a shower room and w.c plus a large shower room with separate showers
Second floor : 4 large bedrooms currently arranged as private owners' accommodation
Le Grand Massif Ski Area
The Grand Massif ski region incorporates the ski resorts of Morillon, Samoeons, Flaine, Clusaz, Sixt and Les Carroz.
The Samoëns ski area offers a varied playground accessible to all. For expert skiers there are black and red pistes at the top of the resort and a vast off-piste area to indulge your enthusiasm. Beginners will improve on the lower, more gentle blue and green slopes which were entirely re-designed in 2003. Small children are welcomed at the children's ski area (jardin d´enfants) at the top of the Grand Massif Express cable car.
At 2 500 m, the summit of the Grandes Platières... A breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Mont Blanc seems to be just a couple of steps away, so impressive is its presence. The Désert de Platé, a vast snowy territory with a unique geological curiosity; a genuine stone glacier over 40 million years old!
Flaine offers wide open spaces with 140 km of pistes of all levels, marked and made safe. Just a few oases where you can eat and drink punctuate the landscape which is otherwise an untouched natural space.
Morillon is the perfect place to enjoy relaxed snowsports with the whole family, in welcoming and authentic natural surroundings. Among the 72 pistes of the Grand Massif, Marvel, the beautiful green run is a must for those who wish to combine the pleasure of skiing with the discovery of local fauna, as explained on the information boards along the edge of the piste. It even has a local hero… Did you know that Morillon is the home of Antoine Dénériaz, the 2006 Olympic downhill champion ?
