Property Description

High quality renovated traditional savoyard Farmhouse for sale in the small village of La Riviere Enverse which is beside Morillon in the Grand Massif ski resort. Rated as one of the top 20 chalets in the Alps by The Times Newspaper when it opened as a luxurious catered ski holiday chalet in 2013, this catered chalet business could be an ideal investment as well as a luxurious retreat in the French Alps. With its picturesque views of the mountains, the farmhouse is the perfect combination of traditional savoyard style and modern convenience. It truly is a home that dreams are made of.

• Apartment: Two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bath/shower rooms • Chalet ground level: Ski and boot room, laundry room, games room and cinema room • Chalet level 1: Open plan lounge, dining area, bar, kitchen, three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms

• Chalet level 2: Two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms This Savoyard farmhouse is located in a small hamlet with its own garden (1660m2), orchard, decked areas and heated 8.7m x 4.6m swimming pool overlooking the valley. It was built in 1746 and renovated by an architect to keep its character and authenticity whilst having all modern amenities to create a luxury mountain chalet.

The chalet is divided in two: on the ground floor there is a separate spacious two-bedroom apartment, and on the first floor you access to the rest of the chalet which is on three levels. It is a real asset to have this separate apartment below if you choose to operate this property as a holiday business or for live-in staff managing your holiday home. It can, however, also be linked to main chalet as the door access still exists. The chalet is on the northern side of the valley. However, it sits on a plateau away from the highest peaks. This means that it gets a surprising amount of direct sunshine. Even during mid-winter, it receives 3 or 4 hours of direct sunlight each day. In mid-summer, it gets the sun from first thing until late into the evening.

The Apartment: The entrance access is on the front facade of the chalet, and when you come in you arrive in a warm and cosy living area with an open, fully equipped kitchen. A corridor with a storage area leads you to the spacious and luxurious bathroom, and then, on the second left is the first bedroom. On the right you will enter into the second bedroom (used as an office currently) with an ensuite shower room. (To be renovated as there is currently only the water access and pipes). The Chalet: Ground floor: The entrance hall has lots of storage space, a ski and boot room and a laundry room. Leading off from the ski room is the games room with table football and a pool table. Off the games room is the cinema room with doors opening onto the garden. First floor: From the games room you climb the stairs to reach the 82m² open plan lounge, dining room and bar area that combines original timber beams, double height ceilings and huge picture windows to stunning effect. Off the lounge area is a large balcony with table and chairs for outside dining and another covered balcony which has an eight-person hot tub and starry views! The spacious kitchen is a separate room, adjacent to the bar. On this level, you will also find a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom plus a separate family suite with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Second floor: Two further bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a family suite with two bedrooms and a bathroom are on the second floor along with an open mezzanine area overlooking the dining space. All bedrooms throughout the chalet have beautiful beams, huge picture windows with stunning views and a private balcony. History: Built in 1746, this farmhouse is one of the oldest in the valley. The stone base would have been half accommodation for the family and half stables for cows and goats – essential to providing winter food in the form of milk and cheese. The heat from the animals would have kept the family warm along with the one central fireplace where all food was cooked. The wooden barn above the stone base was a huge space to store the hay needed to see the animals, and therefore the people, through the long and harsh winters. The location and ski stations: The farmhouse is located in La Riviere Enverse, a small village near Morillon.

Morillon is a traditional village and a ski resort part of the famous Grand Massif ski area with its 265km of pistes. The ski area consists of Flaine, Les Carroz d'Arrache, Samoëns, Morillon and Sixt Fer à Cheval. With a high point of 2500 metres, mostly north-facing slopes, and close proximity to Mt Blanc and the microclimate it generates, this is one of France’s most snow-sure ski areas. As noted, the chalet is situated on a sunny plateau with 360° views, and it is only a short walk away from alpine meadows, mountain lakes and a beautiful river. It is only five minutes’ drive to the Morillon ski lifts and nine minutes’ drive to the pretty medieval village of Samoens.

It is very important also to know that the chalet is only a one-hour drive from Geneva International Airport which is serviced by all the major airlines including Swiss, British Airways, Easyjet, Air France, Aer Lingus, Air Canada and Emirates….

Le Grand Massif Ski Area

The Grand Massif ski region incorporates the ski resorts of Morillon, Samoeons, Flaine, Clusaz, Sixt and Les Carroz.

The Samoëns ski area offers a varied playground accessible to all. For expert skiers there are black and red pistes at the top of the resort and a vast off-piste area to indulge your enthusiasm. Beginners will improve on the lower, more gentle blue and green slopes which were entirely re-designed in 2003. Small children are welcomed at the children's ski area (jardin d´enfants) at the top of the Grand Massif Express cable car.

At 2 500 m, the summit of the Grandes Platières... A breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Mont Blanc seems to be just a couple of steps away, so impressive is its presence. The Désert de Platé, a vast snowy territory with a unique geological curiosity; a genuine stone glacier over 40 million years old!

Flaine offers wide open spaces with 140 km of pistes of all levels, marked and made safe. Just a few oases where you can eat and drink punctuate the landscape which is otherwise an untouched natural space.

Morillon is the perfect place to enjoy relaxed snowsports with the whole family, in welcoming and authentic natural surroundings. Among the 72 pistes of the Grand Massif, Marvel, the beautiful green run is a must for those who wish to combine the pleasure of skiing with the discovery of local fauna, as explained on the information boards along the edge of the piste. It even has a local hero… Did you know that Morillon is the home of Antoine Dénériaz, the 2006 Olympic downhill champion ?

Morillon Ski Resort
