Property Description

This beautifully and carefully renovated mountain chalet is a luxurious product with the smartest and highest quality fixtures and fittings . There  are 7 large bedrooms, or 8 including the staff accommodation, all decorated tastefully and in keeping with the mountain surroundings. Bathrooms have  contemporary walk in Italian style showers or Victorian style claw foot bath tubs whilst the large, comfortable and refined living areas have  many unusual objets d'arts. Sunny balconies off several of the rooms offer stunning private views across the valley and the mountains of the Tarentaise.

The ski resorts of La Rosiere and Ste Foy Tarentaise are both an easy drive from the chalet with Les Arcs, Paradiski and Val d’Isère/Tignes also easily accessible.

A SUPERBLY APPOINTED MOUNTAIN CHALET OFFERING LUXURIOUS ACCOMMODATION

Entrance to the chalet through ancient, antique, carved Indian double doors in to a foyer area where you can leave your boots, shoes, umbrellas and ski equipment. Off to one side, access to the laundry and technical room (hot water cylinders and electric boards).

Continuing up a few steps in to the main reception area which is split into two areas by a huge, 1 metre thick stone archway. Open plan with the large spiral staircase that is made from heavy, original wooden beams going up one flight and down to the ground floor. From here you will find a double bedroom and its private shower room, which is walk-in Italian style, WC and washbasin. The master suite is also on this floor. A grand bedroom with stylishly built-in wardrobes and a relaxing, living area that has access on to a sunny balcony. The en-suite bathroom has a freestanding claw foot bath tub, WC and handbasin. Through the archway in to a library, office area and up a small half staircase to another large double suite, again, the bathroom with a claw foot bath tub, WC, handbasin. This mezzanine floor also has a large sauna and Italian walk in shower room, WC and handbasin.

If you were to go downstairs from the reception area you will find the remaining 4 bedrooms. There is a guest double that has its own private bathroom with shower, handbasin and WC. There are two rooms that are perfect for children! Still good sized doubles if needs be, the rooms are a twin and a bunk at present. Both with space to play or a little desk for the childrens amusement! Further down this hallway, there is a double bedroom whose window looks directly down and across the dramatic valley towards Mont Pourri.

Perhaps saving the best until last, find your way back upstairs to the living area. As you arrive at the top of the stairs you find yourself in the enormous, open plan, sitting room. It is bright and airy and reaches up in to the rafters of the roof. There is a large, stone, central fireplace with sofas and easy chairs arranged around it and on the other side, a card table sits in a reading area. At the far end of the sitting room is the wall of glass; the wall opened up to create a superb viewing platform with panoramic views stretching all around the valley. Up a small set of stairs, still further in to the eaves, in to the kitchen and dining room. A spacious, bright and well laid out family kitchen area and suitably special for the smartest of suppers with friends, the kitchen is fully equipped with a range style oven, a boutique butler sink, marble worktops and a kitchen island which also has its own built in sink, oven and dishwasher. One of the lovely features of this dining area is the social bar area with soft comfy chairs and bar stools which add to the entertaining facilities this beautiful chalet offers. The kitchen has a terrace to let the cool mountain air flood in during those warm summer evenings.

The additional bonus with this property is the  staff studio which is located at the entrance hall and accessed through the laundry area. A private, self-contained studio with a double bedroom, living area and walk in shower, WC and handbasin in the bathroom. The drive way has parking for 2 vehicles and a closed, secure garage and finally there is a walled, terraced area for outside dining during the long, warm summer days and potentially space for an outside, unusual cedarwood hot tub!

The property is around a 15 minute  drive to the skiing resort of La Rosiere ; the small Petit Bois chairlift is about 1km from the chalet and operates when there is adequate snow (usually until March). This lift takes you into the Les Eucherts village of La Rosiere, the modern  new area of the resort with sympathetic architecture, chalets and buildings, shops, bars and restaurants and also a fast new 6 man chair lift to access the higher slopes.

The international airports of  Chambery, Geneva, Lyon and  Grenoble all serve the area with transfer times of approx two to two and a half hours. The TGV and Eurostar have regular services in to Bourg Saint Maurice which is around 25 minutes transfer.

It is an approx. 10 hour drive from the main channel ports.

La Rosiere

Resort Description

Perched high up the valley at 1850 metres, La Rosiere de Montvalezan is a hidden gem for many people visiting the area in the heart of the Haute-Tarentaise. Developed in the 1950s from an original farming hamlet, the ski-resort has been sympathetically created from local materials of lauze, stone and wood. The snowfall here is superb due to its location and rivals that of any of the nearby, larger, more well-known resorts. You get the best of both worlds here in La Rosiere, whilst the south-facing resort centre basks in the sunshine, the slopes maintain their condition due to their high altitude and heavy snowfalls.

The resort offers the perfect base for a family holiday or those looking for a more peaceful chalet holiday. With 150kms of piste and La Rosiere’s link with La Thuile in Italy there are slopes and off-piste to suit every skiing ability. Situated on the Col de Petit St Bernard, you can drive or cycle over to Italy during the summer for an authentic pizza or gelato and ski over on the same road (past the road-signs!) during the winter. Once you are at the top you will have breathtaking views across to Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. A beautiful setting for a wide range of activities with walking and cycling high on the summer agenda and along with the usual snowsports you can meet the famous St Bernard rescue dogs, “mush” your own team of huskies on a dog-sled or have a go at snow-kiting in the winter!
