Clusters of traditional chalets and original Savoyard farmhouses are dominated by the close mountains with chamois and wild boars roaming free in the surrounding forests. As an added bonus Val Thorens, officially the highest resort in Europe is situated at the top of the valley offering great skiing from mid-November to mid-May. St Martin also has some of the best and clearest runs in the Three Valleys; with skiing for all levels back down to the village and red run Jerusalem a firm favourite with many, and the confidence inspiring off-piste powder fields have to be experienced to be believed.
In the height of summer during July and August the valley is host to walkers, nature lovers and adventure seekers who arrive to enjoy the traditional and less traditional mountain activities along with the colourful mountain meadows and beauty of the contrasting vibrant green against snow capped mountains. It is also a near neighbour to the Vanoise Park, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty.
St Martin de Belleville has a lower key nightlife than its glitzy neighbours. Having said that, the valley boasts two Michelin starred restaurants, one being situated three minutes from the village, the other in Val Thorens. St Martin itself has several friendly bars and restaurants which retain a mountain village atmosphere with prices to match. It seems ideal for ski and mountain lovers looking for an authentic atmosphere a little apart from the crowds, and out of season it still has life and enough year round residents to stop it feeling like a ghost town.

Located just a few minutes drive from the popular ski resort of St Martin de Belleville, this property is tucked away in a beautiful mountain hamlet with incredible views. Being so close to the largest ski resort in Europe, the Three Valleys ski area, makes this property exceptionally well priced and its locality to all the amenities of the ski resorts means it has business potential as well.This really is a nice, well maintained house with a naturally cosy feel. It has a good sized fully fitted kitchen and dining area which leads out onto a terrace, also large enough to eat on. The split level sejour has a large open chimney and also opens out onto a balcony with views across the valley. There is also a small laundry room and plenty of room to hang coats as you enter the house. Upstairs there is an open bureau, a large bathroom with separate shower and 2 double bedrooms. This floor could easily be redesigned to accommodate three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
There is a good sized garden is very peaceful and could easily house a pool. The garden has regular visitors from the surrounding forests, in particular the deer wander in to graze, an absolutely superb location for animal lovers.
There are two undeveloped lower floors, still with the original stone work and arched exterior doors, which could either be encompassed into the home or used to create a separate apartment. In addition to all that there is also a plot with the potential to build 70m2 which could be a good place for a gite, or be kept to one side as a retirement plan. There is a long drive leading to a parking area and the garden with lots of parking, a large garage and workshop with plenty of storage.
The Three Valleys has over 600kms of marked ski piste and the same again off-piste. The Belleville valley, where is house is, is the quietest of the three with its more glitzy neighbours of Meribel and Courchevel just over the mountains. The Belleville valley holds the ski resorts of St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, with skiing up to 3,200m making it a very snow sure area
