At an altitude of 1850 metres in the prestigious south facing Ski Resort of La Rosiere you will find this recently built, modern alpine residence set back from the main Route du Col du Petit St Bernard.
Situated in the only International Ski area in the Northern Alps La Rosiere is linked to La Thuile in The Aosta Valley, Italy by the Espace San Bernardo.
Benefitting from its both North and South exposure, this spectacular ski terrain has over 160km of marked pistes and virtually unlimited off piste for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. “Heli skiing” is also a big hit just across the Italian border for an experience of a lifetime !
La Rosiere itself is a south facing resort and enjoys the sunny bright pistes, yet holds a remarkable snow record with the village altitude at 1850m and the summit of the Mont Valaisan chair lift peering down from a staggering 2800m.
La Rosiere is a firm favourite for families with lots of activities both on and off piste tailored to the younger clientele and awards confirming the resort is well suited to family vacations.
Additional winter activities include Ice Skating, Dog Sleigh Rides, the Luge, Boarder cross and the panoramic viewing experience with incredible close up views of Mont Blanc.
For food lovers, La Rosiere has plenty to offer, being close to the Beaufortain mountain range the famous Beaufort Cheese is top of the list. Local dishes include Fondue, Raclette, Tartiflette and over the border to La Thuile you can indulge in Pizza, Pasta, Prosecco and of course the Gorgeous Gelati (ice cream)!
Summer activities in La Rosiere are in abundance and include 104 Mountain Bike Trails, 27 Hiking trails, a 9 hole course course, pony trekking, bike park, a gravity kart and 2 chairlifts to take you to the summit, where stunning views of Mont Blanc can be enjoyed. Perched high up the valley at 1850 metres, La Rosiere de Montvalezan is a hidden gem for many people visiting the area in the heart of the Haute-Tarentaise. Developed in the 1950s from an original farming hamlet, the ski-resort has been sympathetically created from local materials of lauze, stone and wood.
The snowfall here is superb due to its location and rivals that of any of the nearby, larger, more well-known resorts. You get the best of both worlds here in La Rosiere, whilst the south-facing resort centre basks in the sunshine, the slopes maintain their condition due to their high altitude and heavy snowfalls.
The resort offers the perfect base for a family holiday or those looking for a more peaceful chalet holiday. With 150kms of piste and La Rosiere’s link with La Thuile in Italy there are slopes and off-piste to suit every skiing ability.
Situated on the Col de Petit St Bernard, you can drive or cycle over to Italy during the summer for an authentic pizza or gelato and ski over on the same road (past the road-signs!) during the winter. Once you are at the top you will have breathtaking views across to Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. A beautiful setting for a wide range of activities with walking and cycling high on the summer agenda and along with the usual snowsports you can meet the famous St Bernard rescue dogs, “mush” your own team of huskies on a dog-sled or have a go at snow-kiting in the winter!
The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice, a town situated at the foot of La Rosiere, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. Local Airports include Lyon (approx 140km ), Geneva (130km), Chambery (80km), Grenoble (120km).
