MEDIAS AND DESCRIPTION

House Sainte Foy - Sainte Foy

€450,000 - £393,840**

A Rare Opportunity in the heart Sainte Foy ski station.
This stunning Alpage is one of just four traditional properties forming a charming hamlet right in the centre of the ski resort—offering a truly magical location with panoramic mountain views. In summer, access is straightforward with a 4x4 vehicle reaching the chalet directly. In winter, you can either walk the short 200 metres from the top of the chairlift or ski straight down to the door, making it remarkably accessible year-round.

The structure is already sound, with concrete floors in place and a bathroom installed—providing a solid foundation for further development. The property also holds excellent potential for use as a boutique restaurant, offering a unique and intimate setting with breathtaking views and a prime location.

What makes this Alpage particularly special is its usability in all seasons. While many similar properties are lim

The Alpage can be accessed in summer 4x4 recommended
In winter you can walk the 400 m from the chairlift , or you could ski down.

Please note Alpages are not authorised as dwellings , whilst you can sleep there in the summer months it is not permitted to use as an accommodation in the winter .

The Alpage is one of 4 chalets situated in the L'arpettaz area,

Entry level with 2 connected rooms and a cave , a small kitchen island is in place . There is a mezzanine which would make a cosy sleeping area.
There is also a space to install a stove / fireplace
Stairs lead to a lower level with an additional room that opens out onto a courtyard protected from the elements . There is also a very basic shower room with sink and WC.
Secure doors and windows are in place, and there is basic insulation and concrete levels in place. Whilst there is evidently work to do to make it into a magical hideaway , the structure and envelope of the building is in place.

Tucked away in the Upper Tarentaise valley, Sainte Foy Tarentaise is a boutique alpine resort that has earned a loyal following for its authenticity, charm, and exceptional off-piste skiing. Often referred to as a “hidden gem,” it offers a quieter, more exclusive experience than its larger neighbours, yet with access to world-class terrain and excellent natural snowfall thanks to its northwest-facing slopes.

The resort sits at 1,550 metres, with skiing up to 2,620 metres and a vertical drop of over 1,000 metres. While it offers around 43 km of groomed pistes for all abilities, Sainte Foy is particularly renowned among seasoned skiers and guides for its untouched powder fields, tree skiing, and lift-accessed backcountry routes. Heliskiing is also possible from the nearby glacier du Ruitor and across the border into Italy, adding to its freeride appeal.

Despite being a purpose-built resort developed in the 1990s, Sainte Foy has been designed with care to reflect traditional Savoyard architecture, using stone, wood, and slate to preserve the character of the region. The result is a tasteful and harmonious village setting that feels more like an old mountain hamlet than a modern ski station.

Families are particularly well catered for here. The resort centre is pedestrianised and safe for children, with dedicated beginner zones, ESF ski school, sledging areas, and gentle slopes close to most accommodations. Off the slopes, visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, dog sledding, and tranquil forest walks. In summer, the area transforms into a haven for hiking, mountain biking, and picnicking, with lift access open for alpine exploration.

The atmosphere in Sainte Foy is warm and relaxed. There are several inviting restaurants and bars offering regional cuisine and a friendly après-ski, along with essential shops and services, all within easy reach. While more low-key than larger resorts, Sainte Foy’s intimacy and quality of life appeal strongly to those seeking a more refined and restful mountain experience.

Easily accessible from Bourg-Saint-Maurice, just 11 km away, and with connections to major airports such as Chambéry, Geneva, and Lyon, Sainte Foy combines convenience with seclusion. It’s an exceptional location for those looking to invest in a mountain property that offers not only superb skiing but also year-round appeal and a strong sense of community.

Whether for a holiday home, lifestyle investment, or a full-time relocation, Sainte Foy Tarentaise presents an increasingly rare opportunity: Alpine authenticity, preserved.

About Ski area of this property

Ski Area: Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise

Ste Foy Tarentaise offers something increasingly rare in the Alps — a sense of tranquillity and authenticity. It’s a resort where you can ski fresh powder days after a snowfall, enjoy panoramic views of Mont Pourri and the Aiguille Rouge, and feel genuinely connected to the mountain environment. For many, Sainte-Foy is not just a place to ski — it’s a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience winter in its purest form. The village retains a traditional alpine charm feeling more like a community than a tourist complex, with cosy restaurants, wood-fired chalets, and friendly locals. Après-ski is relaxed — think vin chaud by the fire, fondue or raclette dinners, and small bars rather than nightclubs. There are also luxury chalets and boutique lodges, many with spa facilities and stunning mountain views, making it a favourite among those who prefer understated elegance over glitz. Known as a hidden gem for off-piste and powder skiing, the resort has about 1,000 hectares of skiable terrain, but its charm lies in the freeride zones and tree skiing that expert skiers love. Routes like the North Face of Fogliettaz or the descent to the village of Le Monal offer incredible backcountry experiences. For beginners and families, the groomed runs are wide, uncrowded, and sunny — ideal for learning in a peaceful environment. The multiple ski schools and small lift queues make it especially family-friendly. It’s not only about skiing, other winter activities to enjoy include snowshoeing through the forests or to the historic hamlet of Le Monal; Ski touring for more adventurous mountain lovers; Heliskiing, with drops over the border into Italy; dog-sledding, ice climbing, and guided nature walks to explore the untouched wilderness. In summer, Sainte-Foy Tarentaise sheds its snowy coat and transforms into a tranquil alpine haven — a place where wildflowers replace powder fields and the rhythm of the mountains slows. Ste Foy’s summer charm lies in its authentic mountain life. Local farms produce Beaufort cheese, and small markets sell honey, jam, and charcuterie from the region. For the adventurous, the surrounding area offers paragliding, white-water rafting on the Isère, climbing, and canyoning. Naturally, it’s a gateway to some of the most beautiful hiking routes in the Tarentaise. From gentle walks to challenging climbs, there’s a trail for every ability. If cycling is more your thing, there are numerous, famous cols to wind your way up or mountain biking routes including lifts open to whisk you up high. Throughout summer, the village hosts fêtes and local events — simple, joyful gatherings celebrating alpine traditions, music, and cuisine. The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice which lies at the foot of Sainte Foy Tarentaise, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. Local airports are Lyon (135kms), Geneva (130kms). Chambery (75kms) and Grenoble (115kms).
